The Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission (JEDCO) is an independent, yet complementary arm of Jefferson Parish government with the main objective of attracting, growing and creating new business in our area. JEDCO's mission is to drive wealth creation through entrepreneurship, quality jobs and investments. Plaine Studios was hired to re-design the JEDCO.org website to reflect the progressive and accessible spirit in post-Katrina Jefferson Parish, particularly in the technology sector.
Plaine Studios designed a website with the goal of providing users with vital information about JEDCO and economic development initiatives, as well as providing extensive information about Jefferson Parish and JEDCO's role in driving economic development. The site features a clean design with an emphasis on the content that JEDCO delivers for current or perspective businesses and entrepreneurs. The overall design was meant to mirror current trends in higher education as well as deliver progressive governmental information.
Plaine Studios built the site to be easy for JEDCO to update using an open source content management system. The site is accessible to users on a wide variety of platforms and browsers. The JEDCO.org website is both W3C standards compliant as well as Section 508 compliant, ensuring that people with visual disabilities can more easily access this vital governmental information. It is currently the only government-related website at any level in Louisiana known to be compliant with both standards.
In addition to a content management system, Plaine Studios also delivered a workshop reservation tool, which allows visitors to sign up for the variety of workshops that JEDCO facilitates throughout the year. JEDCO administrators are able to easily create workshops on the website and track registered visitors.

With an increased emphasis on technology in post-Katrina economic development, JEDCO's website presents a cutting-edge construct and accessible feel that will allow the agency to attract entrepreneurs and established business to the region. Pleased with the website delivered, JEDCO has also selected Plaine Studios to design the first website for the Churchill Technology and Business Park, currently under construction in Jefferson Parish. The Churchill Technology and Business Park is a high-profile campus, which will provide space for Jefferson Parish's rapidly expanding technology community.
