Republic New Orleans

Three months after Hurricane Katrina, Robert LeBlanc and his partners decided to take a risk and open a brand new entertainment venue in New Orleans. He called on Plaine Studios to create all of the visuals to reflect their vision.

In 2011, new owner Matt Alleman asked Plaine Studios to re-brand the venue, retaining some brand history while injecting new energy.

Republic New Orleans and Plaine Studios
Content-rich, yet well organized, the site provides visitors with information on events and easy access to learn more about a performer.

Founded in 2005, Republic New Orleans is a creative and cultural center providing constantly evolving entertainment through music, fashion, film and the arts. Catering to a diverse, interesting and eclectic audience who enjoy cocktails and conversation with friends, Republic is the hub of creativity and entertainment for the group of people in New Orleans intent on revolutionizing the city's business and artistic landscape. The partners of Republic New Orleans have had a hand in the promotion, launch, or reinvention of virtually every successful nightclub/special events facility created in New Orleans within the past six years. They became disenchanted and bored with engaging in passing fads and catering to short-lived trends that have become cliché in today’s ultra-lounge market. The partners wanted to create a space and atmosphere that would celebrate the class and elegance of New Orleans’ historic elements through modern interpretation.

Challenge

With an increased focus on digital marketing, the new club needed to attract a new audience in an uncertain time following Hurricane Katrina. Republic needed to develop a brand that captured the essence of their philosophy and then translate this brand into a website, print materials and advertising campaigns.

Solution

Branding & Consultation

Plaine Studios created a brand for Republic New Orleans that targeted a young, upscale, progressive audience, while retaining historical design elements of the New Orleans landscape. Plaine Studios assists Republic New Orleans extensively in developing the brand, but also in developing their current customer base through online communications and event programming.

Website

Plaine Studios created a website for Republic New Orleans that appealed to a young, progressively minded audience. In addition to being highly intuitive for the visitor to navigate, this aesthetically pleasing site features robust content management. The site facilitates the creation of new content which is currently used to deliver new content to visitors, and allows the venue to develop online sponsorship proposals for events, in turn allowing them to solicit sponsorship within the Republic brand at a fraction of the time that it would traditionally take. The goal of keeping the site constantly updated and fresh was further enhanced by the use of Plaine Studios photography from Republic New Orleans events which can be found on the homepage as well as event summary pages throughout the site. Plaine Studios also achieved notable success in getting high placement for the site in a variety of Google searches relating to live music, nightlife and fashion in New Orleans. The site also won an ADDY Award in 2007.

Print

Plaine Studios provides ongoing print materials for Republic New Orleans ranging from flyers to presentation materials and print advertisements. Plaine Studios developed a presentation folder for Republic New Orleans to allow them to provide an overview of the venue to perspective sponsors, event planners and promoters.

Photography

Plaine Studios provides photography of live music events, fashion shows and special events at Republic New Orleans for use on the website as well as in other advertising. In addition, Plaine Studios provides digital photography of the venue itself for the website and for other uses where presenting the venue’s atmosphere is necessary.

Digital Media

Plaine Studios has also provided Republic New Orleans with a variety of other digital media components to assist them in building the venue. Some of these digital media components include:

• Live digital video projections for stage backdrop for specific events
• DVD motion graphics projections for stage backdrop for specific events

Conclusion

Plaine Studios effectively determined the needs and solutions for this upstart New Orleans venue, allowing them to thrive in an uncertain post-Katrina marketplace. In 2007, Plaine Studios is expanding its role to develop a live music marketing plan aimed at providing free, digital media to live music guests in an attempt to further build a live music audience. The website also won an award at the 2007 ADDY Awards.
